Now it's raining and slushy and not so pretty. Oh well. I have good boots. Last night I went for a really long walk, it was actually warm out. I didn't sleep well though. Having bad dreams that involved cockroaches. The bf says I have been watching too much Billy the Exterminator. I did learn from Billy that mascara is made with bat crap. Yes bat crap that has been processed but it's still bat crap. Going to do some shopping today at the sales, and supper is already made (leftover turkey) so it should be a good quiet night!

ParisFrances Gets Stoned for the First Time
Much like the Miley Cyrus Salvia bong video, I am sure that this too will be a viral video soon. ParisFrances has been given catnip before but this was the first time it had any affect/effect?(which one) on her.
Anyways, after opening my stocking which contained chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, lottery tickets and travel magazines..the cat was given her "stuff" and she went nuts and has been sleeping ever since.
I got some rock and roll books, Cherie Currie's biography, Joan Jett's biography, and not rock star, but still equally as cool, Russell Brands Booky Wook II. I also got lovely gift certificates for Boxing Day shopping (which by the way in PEI is not on Boxing Day it's the day after because of the no Sunday shopping rule) I also got a beautiful, beautiful robe.
We are just about to depart for a walk in the snow on the Cavendish Beach. First time walking on the beach of the ocean on Christmas Day. Full turkey dinner after that.

Visiting Olivia & Mittentime 2010
Tonight, it is the 6th annual Food and Warmth Show. It is to support the Upper Room with food donations and clothing. I'll tell you more about that tomorrow. Hopefully!
ParisFrances has super strong catnip as a gift, and all she does is get a whiff of it and she acts insane...so get ready for a video of crazed cat on catnip Christmas day.

Christmas Stuff
With half of my staff taking off home for Christmas, I'll be working my butt off until the end of the year. Luckily, I will be spending a lot of time in studio, so that means I will take some photos on time off and get writing on here.

Charlottetown Santa Claus Parade
It's that time of year when those of us who work in radio get in line for Santa Claus parades. Last night was the Charlottetown Santa Claus parade. I along with a few of the other staff members walked the route along side our huge float. It was about 5km. Our float looked great with a lot of kids, people, and it was hauling our station vehicle.
It was pretty impressive. There were thousands of people lined up along the streets.
Yesterday I also helped out with the K-ROCK Equipment Drive for Kids. We are trying to get as much sports equipment donated as we can for kids who otherwise may not be able to play hockey and other sports. We got about 8 bags full of stuff.
Today is a laundry day/clean apt day. I'm also going to the gym. And I have curling tonight.

Sitting with the Big Guys
This is the NEWCAP headquarters in Dartmouth. Nice building. Nice view of the harbor from the board room. Very nice people work there. Seriously. Everyone is happy. You can tell they love their jobs.
The drive home was a mess. It snowed all through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Nothing I wasn't used to driving in, but it still made for a longer trip home and I was tired.
I forgot to write that on Saturday night the bf and I went to see Tanya Davis. She is an excellent Canadian performer, who had a youtube video that have over 2 million hits. She is a singer (originally from Summerside PEI) that has an unforgettable voice. Check out this poem she wrote, and then they made a video of it.

I know its all deep and stuff, but it's true.

I saw a bald eagle while driving through Nova Scotia. When I got to the hotel, I immediatly headed for the pool and hot tub. Verrrrry nice.
Now I am off to dinner. Possibly may hit hot tub again. lol. I love the hot tub.

The Snow is Here
This is downtown Charlottetown, in the snow.
And finally, the first time I have ever seen the ocean when it is snowing.

A Beautiful Fall Weekend in PEI
On the weekend, it was beautiful! The sun was out, it was warm and a friend and I decided to go to the Cavendish Park trails on Saturday. We had a great time, the water was calm, no wind, the air was as fresh as it could ever be.
On Sunday, my friend and I travelled to Roma. There is trails at Three Rivers. The smell of the pine trees and the ocean was amazing. It was truly a beautiful weekend in PEI.
Some things that have been going on, well for the most part I work. I have been asked to part of a programming advisory board for the company, which would consist of programmers from across Canada. Very exciting and an excellent opportunity for me. I head to Halifax next week for our first meeting.
K-ROCK is planning for Christmas, no Christmas music likely! I had people vote on our website and most are against Christmas music on a rock station. We have a sports equipment drive starting Friday, our sister station has toys for tots, so this will be our fun way of giving back to the community. Our staff Christmas party is also coming up, I'm looking forward to that, but I have to get out there and get a dress. And likely shoes. Jeez. I hate shopping when you actually have to get something. It's so much easier when you are not looking.

Bloggorama
We have been giving away a thousand dollars a week in October. Now that has been fun.
I still remain without a kitchen table. Still don't miss having a kitchen table, just think it is odd to not have one when guests are here.
Looking forward to my friend Angies visit next week. I already know it will be a couple days of laughing, talking, laughing, wine, having a blast in downtown Charlottetown, laughing, wine, and so on.
Big news being announced next week at K-ROCK. Can't tell you yet. But it will be very cool to anyone who likes rock music.
Anyways, I am off to read my John Lennon book. Next book will be about one of the guys from Great Big Sea. He has written a book, and I will likely get to interview him. Love this job!

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
I went to this place in York called Vessey's Seeds. They had a giant pumpkin weigh thing going on. It was crowded with people, and there was pumpkin mascots, wagon rides and the whole bit. Very Norfolk Fair'ish. More photos at http://www.krock1055.com/photogallery.asp?mn=5
Today I also drove out to the University and took photos of the BMO National Soccer Championships. It was really cool and windy here today. The guys standing on the sidelines were freezing!
I am going to a wedding reception tomorrow night for one of my friends here at work. Very cool that I got invited.
I got a gym membership through work, so I can't wait to start. I haven't been to the gym since the end of August. I haven't put on any weight, but I know that my sporadic running and trying to work out at home is falling to the bottom of the to do list. The gym is at the University, and it is state of the art. So I am super happy about that, and plan on going on Tuesday.
Anyways, tonight is going to be a relaxing night of reading and watching the telly.

A Blue Heron named Bill
Back on Sunday, I did a few visits to towns I had not been to before. Brackley Beach, Stanhope and French River. It was a beautiful day, and blue herons were everywhere. This blue herons name is Bill. I wanted to bring him home to play with ParisFrances.
The lighthouse at Stanhope/Brackley Beach is a classic. It was breathtaking. The wind was so cool, and yet when I sat in the grass, it was really hot. And then I started getting attacked by mini mosquitoes...so I left. lol.
Now check out this pictures. This was taken by my friend. Living here, I am constantly amazed by the beauty and the simplicity of the scenery. I also continually say to myself, I can't believe I live here. I love it.

The End Of September
Phew. That is done with. The missing 5's were returned, the contest went great, and people are still talking about it. It was without a doubt one of the most interesting highlights of my career. :)
Mom went home on Thursday. She left behind maple fudge which was amazing. Unfortunately for her, she was here during a couple of the most stressful weeks of my life. lol.
Went for a walk tonight with the bf around Victoria Park. It was beautiful. No wind, just the smell of the ocean and the twinkling of the lighthouse lights. I still can't believe I live by the ocean. It makes me very, very happy.
I've decided I will be coming home in January likely. Too many people are taking Christmas off, so I will be working away. Meh...the flights are cheaper in January. Plus family and friends will be less busy at that time. Don't worry nieces and nephew, my Christmas shopping is already done, and I will be sending it to grandmas!

Football
I played Flag Football, I am leading in the football pool, and I watched Holland College football again this weekend. Playing flag football was a RIOT! I had an awesome time. At first I was really scared I was going to get hit, but there is not touching, and all I did was run and chase people for their flags.
At the Holland College Football games I got my picture taken with the University of PEI mascot. He was a bit odd....but it goes along with my theme of mascot pictures
This week was crazy....my missing 5 promotion made the CBC news, some guy was complaining that people were vandalizing his store and causing problems. We have found there are a few people that are just taking this promotion way too far. In the meantime I am trying to get ready for next months promotion, so much work to do, so little time.
Mom is here visiting. My friend has taken her to see the bridge, and East Point. I took her to Cavendish and today she went to see Chef Michael Smith at the Farmers Market on Queen Street. They shut down the street. My friend was in a chili competition. It was a lot of fun.

The Weekend of Awesomeness
Friday
We called this the weekend is awesomeness. The station had 6 events to cover. Friday was the PEI ROCKET game (hockey) and the Shellfish Festival.
Saturday
Holland College Football Game at the University of Prince Edward Island. Also Shellfish Festival. Got to hang out with the gang from work, so we did some fun photos on the truck.
Sunday
I ran across the Confederation Bridge in the Terry Fox Run. 13 km was a long way, after I ran on Saturday 10k. I didn't know I was going to be running today, I was supposed to MC events on the New Brunswick side, but they cancelled the event. So my boss said " You can run!" Yeah. I am glad that I did though. It was quite an experience, the fresh air, the miles of endless Ocean, the gulls, the 8 THOUSAND people, and the incline on the bridge that was hellish in spots. My knee is now swollen, and I am really sore, but I ran across the Confederation Bridge. Very cool. :)
The Dallas Stars intrasquad game was today. The Stars are here practicing, and I got to meet Ron Maclean. He was super nice!

Where Did That Week Go!
This past week, I was so busy at work, it was just a big blur. Thursday night, my friend and I took a bunch of stinky mackeral that I had thawed (I'm not cooking it) and we took it to the beach. Problem is, PEI seagulls are not like Ontario seagulls. Ontario seagulls are like papparazzi on Paris Hilton when it comes to food. PEI seagulls just look at you and run away when you throw fish at them. One lowly seagull, who likely was a tourist at some of the mackeral. It was really uneventful. But I had a great time walking on the beach. I also found some wierd shell...I had never seen one like that before.
Friday night I went to see Hairspray with my friend Brittany. George Wendt (Norm from Cheers) was hysterical and the entire show was as good as a Broadway Musical. I have to get my mom a ticket for when she visits next week. I don't have any pictures from the evening, even though I went to the reception after. I was wearing killer heels, and I was really tired. So I took off before the entire cast got there.
Saturday I worked. I went for a jog in the morning in the rain, and then in the afternoon I went to the Red Sands Potato Festival in Victoria By the Sea. Chef Michael Smith was there. Women go gaga over this guy. I did not. I went more gaga over George Wendt. The premise of the evening was that you bought a ticket for a bowl made by a local potter. Then, you got to eat Chef Smith's famous seafood chowder, and all kinds of stuff that had potatoes in it. I chose not to eat, because it got crazy busy. I was lucky enough to get one of the bowls though. There was also a band there, 3 young boys, 14, 15, and 16 who provided traditional Island music. They were AMAZING. I could have listened to them all afternoon.
Anyways, I had my picture taken with a potato man and a lobster man, and here is a quick clip of the boys who played Island music.
Today I cleaned, did laundry and made chicken tettrazzini ( I am spelling it wrong, and I really don't care) sloppy joes and a roasted chicken with vegetables. The plan is to cook a whole lot on Sunday when I have time and then not have to worry about food for at least 3 days during the week.
So Mom visits next week. I am realizing all of the things I need to get before she arrives, like a nighttable for the spare room, a paring knife, and a kitchen table and chairs. lol. Oh well, mumsy may have to eat in the living room on the couch and of off the coffee table. It will be like the old days at Christmas at Aunt Rose's when there were so many people they had to eat at the couch, and I usually sat on the floor.

Tropical Storm Earl
The storm wasn't that bad, a few trees down, some big puddles, sidways rain--nothing that I didn't experience in Ontario.
Some strange stuff has happened. Our 5's are missing. We are now K-ROCK 10 (K-ROCK 1 OH) Here is a link to some guys blog about us being K-ROCK 10. I am having fun!

Hurricane Earl &Norm from Cheers was at the Triangle
-in the midst of executing huge ratings promotion-very exciting
-making plans to deal with Hurricane Earl. I am not worried-not even the slightest. I am the opposite, I'm actually looking forward to it, I can't wait to see the waves!
-Have been jogging in the morning, because I am working long hours
-Saw Norm (George Wendt) at the "Triangle" some restaurant across from the radio station. He was super nice, I get to see him at the opening of the musical "Hairspray" next Friday night.
-We have a food bank promotion going on tomorrow and Friday. Morning shows are locked in the studio until it filled to the ceiling with food. It will be fun.
-I'm tired and going to bed now. :)

The Panty Covered Car and the Red Island Run Kitchen Party
Friday Night--Walking to the Red Island Run Kitchen Party (Red Island Run is a motorcycle rally that is taking place all weekend that is raising money for the Heart&Stroke Foundation--a Kitchen Party is traditional mixed with non traditional island music)down Prince Street. Walk by car covered in panties, thongs, bras and saran wrap.
I think someone is getting married or something. Made us laugh.
I was emcee of the Red Island Run Kitchen Party. It took place at a great venue called the "Seaport" however barely anyone was there. Bikers and traditional island music didn't go over well in this case. Someone yelled out to the Chaisson Family Band that they sucked. While some woman also yelled at the band to play something that has "words" with it. She was so rude, and looked like something of off the Trailer Park Boys. I felt awful for the band, they were SO good. Fiddle, snare drum, guitar, keyboard--excellent!
When the Chaisson family wrapped up their music, the "Boys in the Kitchen" were on the stage. They sang traditional songs like "Whiskey in the Jar" and some others that I have no idea what the songs were, but they also did some Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett and other covers.
Saturday-I did a remote at the Rogers store. They had 30 IPHONE 4's and all of them sold within a couple of hours. It was pretty crazy. This afternoon I went for a run, did some housework, and then I went out for supper with a friend.
Sorry the photos are so small & dark in this blog!

SportsCentre Visits Abram-Village & Wellington
Last night I went to the live broadcast of SportsCentre in Wellington PE. Got to meet Jennifer Hedger and Darren Dutchesyn (I think I am spelling his name wrong--whatever--nice guy) There was a big crowd there, and we took the radio station vehicles to do some promotional appearance. Basically so people would see our logos and whatnot. I had to wear a large t-shirt, it looked like jammies.
Our washing machine has been broke for a couple of days in the apartment building, so all of my K-ROCK clothes were dirty--that's why I had to wear the big K-ROCK shirt. Oh well--everything is going great, the weather has been beautiful. Low twenties, breezy and sunny. I am working straight through the weekend, which actually is great for the blog, because that means I will have lots to talk about! Friday night-Red Island Run Kitchen Party. What is that? It's a motorcycle event, (poker run) and after they have a traditional island music party (and booze) I am the emcee. Saturday morning I have a remote at Rogers. Saturday afternoon I have off! :) However I will have work to do getting ready for ratings. Sunday I am on air in the afternoon--filling in for a guy who needs the day off. BUSY! Must go do laundry now!

A Work Out Weekend
Friday was my first time in the Gold Cup Parade. This parade is really long, 2 hours-and a lot of quality floats. We had a float with our morning show teams singing, and we also had the rest of us dressed up as letters. It was a great time. Prime Minister Stephan Harper was there. But get this. He showed up for the first few minutes before the parade started. Had a photo op, and then left before the parade even started. Then his press people send out a release saying he "took part" in the Gold Cup Parade. Friday night I had a remote (were I go to a business and do live commercials) at Reebok/Rockport. They had a huge tent sale, it was a crazy sale, really cheap and it was crowded. I mean really crowded, people thought they were going to faint crowded.
Saturday my friend and I went mountain biking. Problem was, we couldn't find the bike trail. Eventually we found a Woodlot Demonstration outside of Souris, that had trails, (some tough trails actually) so we had a great time going through the woods. I slammed my bike into a tree root, and it stopped me completely. That hurt my back, but I felt better on Sunday.
Sunday(this morning) was great. Beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky. My friend and I walked to Victoria Park, and played tennis. It was a load of fun, and the weather was perfect. I had a blast and lost 6-5. It was a good game. The tennis courts here are in prime condition, the nicest I have ever played on, and you don't have to pay. They even have a tennis clubhouse, lessons and there were 8 courts. Excellent feature in Charlottetown.
